About Me

Hi. My name is Mary and I love classic films. What is a millennial doing watching old movies, you ask? Well, it all began one sunny afternoon when my Mom discovered a sale of classic movies at the Kingsway bookstore in Eugene, Oregon. She bought 15 used VHSs including The Mark of Zorro, The Adventures of Robin Hood, The Crimson Pirate, Scaramouche, The Scarlet Pimpernel and well… the rest is history.

How do I express this passion for The Golden Age of Hollywood?  First and foremost, I have a collection of roughly 800 old movies, my pride and joy. Also, I’ve had the privilege of introducing others to classic film in a variety of ways including movie nights with friends and screening classic films as community programing at my place of employment, the public library. In addition, I’ve organized movie series at both churches and a college.  Along with these screening I often do introductions to the films, dishing on all the behind-the-scenes stories. Best of all, I attended the TCM Classic Film Festival in Hollywood in 2016 and 2017. For those who’ve never been or aren’t familiar, the TCM Film festival is four days of movie lover bliss. Can’t recommend highly enough!

A little more about me: I am an aspiring historian particularly interested in the Golden Age of Hollywood, Nazi Germany, the suffragette movement, the struggle for LGBT rights, and evangelical Christianity. In addition to learning about history, I enjoy listening to vinyl records, riding my motor scooter, drinking beer, playing games with my gorgeous wife, and hiking in the beautiful state of Oregon.
